Privacy Policy
NorthStar is the sponsor of the Total Higher Education (T.H.E.) Loan Program and certain other
student loan programs. You are receiving this notice as required by law with respect to one or more student loans or
financial literacy education. The privacy of your personal information is a serious matter for NorthStar and our
employees. As a NorthStar customer, you can feel confident that your personal privacy is protected by our commitment
to you. The following Privacy Policy explains the way we protect personal financial information. It also explains
what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how and why, in limited cases, we may share this
information with select partners of NorthStar.
The security of your personal and financial information is a priority to us..
At NorthStar, we:

Limit access to customer information to those people who need to know that
information to provide or maintain products and services to you.

At NorthStar, we only collect information that is needed to serve you and administer
our business. This information comes to us from a variety of sources, including:

Information we receive directly from you or at your request, such as:

Contact information such as name, address, e-mail address and telephone number. We use this, to,
among other things, identify you as a NorthStar customer, send you information about our products
and services, and call or write you about your accounts.

Identification information such as a social security number. We may need your social security number,
for example, to administer your education loan, obtain a consumer credit report when you apply for
credit with us, or to comply with other legal requirements.

Financial information such as income, assets, liabilities. We may use this to process loan
applications or provide financial literacy education.
Information about your transactions and experiences with us, such as account balances and payment history.
This permits us, for example, to process your requests quickly and recommend appropriate products.
Information about you from consumer reporting agencies, such as credit history and credit scores. We use
this when we process loan applications, monitor and collect existing accounts, and as otherwise permitted by law.
Information from other outside sources such as schools, cosigners and references regarding their relationship
with you. We use this information to process your loan requests and as otherwise permitted by law.

We carefully limit and control the sharing of your information.
To protect your privacy, we do not disclose information about our current or former
customers to anyone, except as outlined in this policy or as permitted or required by
law. To provide our customers with comprehensive and effective service, we may use
customer information to determine whether they might want to know about certain financial
products and services. We may share information in these limited circumstances:
- Our Affiliates. We share information among the NorthStar companies as necessary
to process, administer and service your loans and transactions you have authorized
- Third Party Service Providers. NorthStar may use outside companies or suppliers
to perform services, such as printing, mailing, or processing customer transactions.
These service providers are contractually required to adhere to our strict
confidentiality policies and may use the information only to provide the intended service.
- Joint Venture Partners of NorthStar. We may enter into joint marketing agreements
with carefully selected financial institutions outside of NorthStar to bring special
opportunities to our customers. We may provide these financial institutions with
customer contact information, such as name, address, and telephone number and account
information. Joint Venture partners are required to keep our customer information
confidential and use it only as authorized by us.
- Other Circumstances. We share customer information with unaffiliated third parties
when our customers specifically request it or give us permission to do so. In connection
with education loans, we are required to make disclosures to various guaranty agencies,
your schools and the U.S. Department of Education. Other examples where we share personal
information include: reporting to consumer reporting agencies, when we suspect fraud or
criminal activity, or when otherwise required by law.
- VERMONT RESIDENTS ONLY. If you are a resident of Vermont, the information set forth
above about your information sharing choice does not apply to you. Under Vermont law,
we are not permitted to share information you give us or information we receive from
others unless you consent.

Information provided to School.
If you are a student user of GradReady, NorthStar may provide certain data to the education
institution you attend (the “School”) about your access to and usage of GradReady. This
data may include your personal information. In many cases this personal information is already known
to the School (e.g., your name and e-mail address). GradReady does not provide information
relating to your personal finances to the School or to any third party. For example, if you
input or upload information to GradReady with respect to the balances of student loans, this
information is not provided by NorthStar to the School or to any third party. The School
does not have access to your GradReady account.
Use of Non-Personal Information.
NorthStar reserves the right to scrub (i.e., de-identify) personally identifiable
information such that it no longer includes personally identifiable information.
NorthStar reserves the right to use and disclose non-personally identifiable
information for any and all purposes that NorthStar deems proper, including,
without limitation, reproducing, modifying, preparing derivative works based
upon, distributing, displaying, aggregating, compiling, summarizing, reporting,
and/or incorporating such information into other works in any form, media, or
technology now known or hereafter developed.
NorthStar wants to be sure that your information is accurate.
Keeping your account information accurate and up to date is very important. We provide
you with access to your account information through various means such as account statements
and our toll-free telephone numbers.
If you ever find that your account information is incomplete, inaccurate
or not current, please call, write or send us an e-mail at the locations listed in the
paragraph below. We will promptly update or correct any erroneous information. If you
have questions, or feel that we have not handled information about you properly, you may
always contact us and we will investigate your inquiry.
We respect your preferences.
You can choose to tell us that you do not want us to share
your personal identifiable information outside of NorthStar. We may continue to share
information as permitted by law. To tell us your preferences, please write to us at

If two or more customers jointly obtain a product or service from us, such as a borrower
with a cosigner, we will treat a request not to receive marketing offers from one of the
joint customers as applying to both that customer and the other joint customer as well.
This policy is provided to you, as required under the
federal privacy law and the Fair Credit Reporting Act, on behalf of NorthStar Education
Finance, Inc., NorthStar Capital Markets Services, Inc., and any of their subsidiaries.
This policy applies to individuals only. We will provide you notice of our privacy policy
annually or as otherwise required by law as long as you maintain an ongoing relationship
with us. This policy may change from time to time. For the most current version of our
