By providing flexible technology solutions at no additional cost, and supporting industry standards, NorthStar is able to help meet your needs and in many cases easily integrate with your existing financial aid processes and systems.

Secure Internet/Web based applications

Through the use of our unique Total Higher Education Origination (THEO) On-Line web application, you can view and change loan and application information online safely and securely.

NorthStar's On-Line Application and "Phone Loan" systems also offer students the opportunity to begin their loan application process on-line via our web page. Students can also use our "Phone Loan" process and begin their application over the phone with one of our customer service reps.

SCHOLARNET^® provides data exchange via the Internet in "real-time". Schools can use SCHOLARNET^® to:

	Certify FFEL and Alternative Loans.
	Send application certification files via the Internet to any guarantor or service provider who trades CommonLineTM v3 or v4 Files.
	Send and receive Change Transaction files.

Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

EFT is a paperless payment process that transfers funds to schools for delivery to students. The benefits of EFT are immense:

• Schools save time and money because funds are transferred electronically, eliminating the delays associated with traditional processing methods.
• EFT is available to schools on all loans originated by T.H.E.
• EFT eliminates students waiting to endorse loan proceeds before the funds can be applied to the student's account.
• EFT puts the school in control of the disbursement process.

Support for Industry Standards

We want to make working with us easy for you. We fully support CommonLine^TM innitiatives and continue to be an active ELM Resources participant. CommonLine^TM is a common platform for transmission of data in the student loan industry. From its inception, NorthStar has been a strong supporter in the development and enhancement of this common platform.

If these options do not suit your needs, we support File Transfer Protocol (FTP) for exchanging files with other computer systems. We also ensure the privacy of data by using encryption technologies such as PGP to protect files during transmission.
